Description
This plugin enhances the inbuilt confluence user Page View information. Once the plugin has been installed, it will include additional data to the standard Confluence tracking information, including:
- Total page views
- List of users who have viewed the page
- Total page views per user
- Count of Attachment Downloads
- Space admin and Global Site admin information and settings
- User Reporting for Confluence Administrators
To see the enhanced Page View data for any page, click on the Tools menu and select Page View Statistics or use the Views link in the page metadata info.
The Page View Statistics are only available for viewing by the Page Owner, Confluence Administrators or anyone in the configured user groups. All other users are not able to access the extended page view statistics.
Upgrading Data in Version 5.x
Our version 5.x implementation has had a full data storage redesign, moving away from the problematic Bandana API and now using the more popular ActiveObjects database tables. Due to the implementation of ActiveObjects and some of the restrictions of its usage, upgrading the data from Bandana to the new tables must be performed by a Confluence Administrator soon after upgrading to the latest version 5.x.
The data upgrade only needs to be performed once, when this process has been completed using the Page View Tracker configuration page, it will not be required to be done again. The configuration page will show the upgrade status and notify administrators if the upgrade is still pending.
This process is CPU intensive and for large sites may have an impact on the system during the data upgrade effort. As an example, upgrading the data for a Space with 5000 pages takes approximately 5 minutes, but this can vary depending on the amount of view data stored by the App.
Head over to the Page View Tracker configuration page (in Confluence settings) and click on the Upgrade Data button.
If running in the Confluence Data Center environment, please only run the upgrade on one node only. After the upgrade process is complete, then the other nodes will show Complete too.
